Ironic? Driving an EV to buy oil.

Hmmm… it feels a little strange to be out buying motor oil in an EV.
The RAVolt is getting it’s annual TX inspection today. I dropped it off with suitable warnings (gear then gas, slow in reverse) at the local Chevron and they said, “oh, yeah we do EVs all the time.” Turns out it was me last year!

Exciting Wheel Motor: Michelin’s Active Wheel

One of the most interesting technology items I’ve seen recently in the flood of EV announcements is Michelin’s Active Wheel. Apparently they’ve been working on this a while and still have years to go. However, it looks like a viable wheel (not-hub) motor approach. Their use of active suspension may address the unsprung weight issues of hub motors.
