Multi-Meter / Data Logger

I had an interesting idea about my A/D needs for the computer data logging.  Data logging will allow my on-board computer to track the voltage & current draw as I drive.  It occurred to me that some multi-meters include serial/USB outputs.  Since I already need a MM it makes sense to get one that can also be my data logger.

38-26-34: Figuring out

Now that I’m officially waiting for my coupling, I’m back to figuring out battery placements. Here are pictures with dimensions. The J150s *should* fit 6 in front, 2+4 in rear. Take a look and tell me what you think…

Chime time: Clutch Bell Measured

My next major step is to couple the transmission to the DC motor. That requires a custom coupling from EV America’s machine shop. So I spent about an hour today cleaning the clutch bell so I could get the dimensions. SAFETY NOTE: clutch dust is hazardous! Do not inhale. As per repair manual clean it with break cleaner.

Here are the critical dimensions (just in case there is another RAV4 out there):

If you’re like me and have never seen a clutch before then here is a cool progression of the 3 main parts of of the clutch. The pressure plate and flywheel connect to the engine and the clutch connects to the transmission shaft. The rollers on the clutch are vibration dampers.
